Here We Go Again – Citizens Insurance Increases Premiums for A-Rated Risks

In Citizens Insurance, Commercial Market, Florida Hurricane Insurance, Florida Law Changes, Insurance Appraisal by Patricia Staebler

Citizens just released their latest insurance increases, which will apply to Condominiums, Homeowner’s associations and apartment buildings. Therefore it becomes more and more important to have accurate insurance appraisals and updates for your condominium association in place.

Because A-rated properties are not subject to the statutory 10% limitation on the premium increase, Citizens can raise the premiums for these types of buildings.

The following increases apply:

Seacoast Zone 1 – 20.6%

Seacoast Zone 2 – 14.1%

Seacoast Zone 3 – 1.6%

The inland areas, Monroe County including Key West will have no change in premiums. You can look up in which Seacoast Zone your county is located by clicking on the following link: Seacoast Zones

This is no good news for most of my clients, whose properties are located in these zones; however, I think it is important to be informed, so you can react as quick as possible.

As always, please call or email with questions and if you need to update your existing insurance appraisal get in touch with my office soon enough to give your insurance agent enough time to work diligently on your insurance coverage.
